Doug and Betty Ruth (Clendenin) Burris

Betty Ruth ( Clendenin ) Burris, 81, the youngest child of Samuel A. and Myrtle (Cypert ) Clendenin, died September 1, 2010 in Norman, OK. Betty Ruth was born in Ardmore, OK on August 29, 1929. Betty Ruth graduated from Ardmore high school in the class of 1947. She worked for American Airlines at the Ardmore Airpark until she married Paul Douglas Burris November 24, 1949. Doug worked for Southwestern Bell Telephone Company and she and Doug moved to Richardson, TX in 1966. After Doug’s retirement they moved to Falconhead, OK for a few years before moving back to Ardmore, OK where they spent their retirement years.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Doug; four brothers, Paul, Carl, Sam Jr. and R.A. Clendenin and one sister, Inez ‘Sis’ Anthony. She is survived by two sons, Alan and Sharon ( Smith ) Burris of Ardmore, OK and Gary Burris of Denver, CO.; a daughter Beverly Ann Burris of Ardmore, OK.; a sister, Sally Cox and husband, Cameron Cox of Houston, TX; two sisters-in-law, Genie Clendenin of Ardmore, OK, and Lucille Clendenin of Savoy, TX; and numerous nieces and nephews. She is buried next to her husband Doug in Rose Hill Cemetery, Ardmore, OK.
