Requiem: for Texas' Original Headshop

I just had to write this song
because you know it won't be long
- if you get high and drop your bong
you'll have to go clear to Hong Kong
to replace it
let's face it
they're going too far

They've close up all the headshops in Texas
they've been tapping on our phones now for a while
they're trying to keep that drug traffic
down, boys, down
guess I'll move to another side of town

You've got to break an arm or leg to get some hemostats
the emergency ward - that's where they're at
The closest thing to a coke spoon is a tea spoon, and that's that
Even oil rich Texans don't do toot like that

They've close up all the headshops in Texas
they've been tapping on our phones now for a while
they're trying to keep that drug traffic
down, boys, down
guess I'll head for the other side of town

Now I've swithched to aerosol instead of incense
but it's not the same - it don't make sense
destroying the atmosphere for pleasant scents
I used to get a perfumed stick for just five cents

That's why I had to write this song
because you know it won't be long
- if you get high and drop your bong
you'll have to sail clear to Hong Kong
to replace it
let's face it
It will be a long time gone

And now I wish I'd bought a thousand screens
Do you know what I mean? You know what I mean
Well maybe the state line isn't as far as it seems
we could cut it clean - if we just had wings

(But down here)
They've closed up all the headshops in Texas (oh no)
they'll be tapping on our phones now for a while (oh yeah)
they're trying to keep that drug traffic
down, boys, down
Don't look now: they're all over town

And it makes me wish I lived in California
where the sell anything they wanna
and the hills are filled with marijuana
yeah, wish I lived in
Californ-eye-ay
